Te design criteria for this tyre was to create a tyre that offered high levels of safety, complementing the predictive safety systems found on modern cars, without suffering a loss in performance. Maintaining a high degree of comfort was an additional important design criterion.

The Eagle F 1 Asymmetric utilises goodyear's Active CornerGrip Tecnology that enhances driving performance on corners and straights, combining it with the company's racing compound technology. The result is that the pressure in the contact patch is more evely distributed when cornering at high speed, meaning more rubber on the road.
