In this section we have compiled a list of relevant links
to various tyre industry websites that we that will be interesting
to our readers and anyone who is looking to source information
about the tyre industry in the UK.
The Tyre
Industry Federation (TIF) is the overriding body, which
represents the interests of the tyre industry at national
level. Their website includes a downloadable factbook, which
is the defeinitive guide to tyres in the UK.
Their are five main tyre industry associations, which represent
various groupings within the industry, all of which are members
of the TIF. The British Tyre
Manufacturers Association (BTMA) represent tyre makers
with manufacturering facilities in the UK, whilst overseas
manufacturers who import into the UK are represented by the
Imported Tyre Manufacturers
Association (ITMA).
Tyre retreading companies are represented by the Retread
Manufacturers Association (RMA), whilst tyre disposal,
collecting and recycling operations are members of the Tyre
Recovery Association (TRA).
The interests of the retail trade and tyre wholsalers are
looked after by the National
Tyre Distributors Association (NTDA).
The UK's leading tyre safety organisation Tyresafe
works closely with the Tyre Industry Federation too and is
the body to contact regarding tyre safety issues.
Of course one should not forget the tyre press, who provide
much valuable information on the tyre sector. The two main
tyre dealer magazines in the UK are Tyres
& Accessories and Tyre
Trade News, whilst the retreading and tyre recycling sectors
are covered by Retreading
Business and Tyre
& Rubber Recycling.
Last, but not least, if you want to find out more about the
UK tyre industry, you could do worse than pay a visit to the
industry's very own trade exhibition Brityrex,
which takes place in Manchester every two years.
