AGX - The New Adjustable
Shock Absorber from Kayaba
For
enthusiastic drivers who like to control the suspension set-up
of their cars, comes a new range of fully adjustable shock
absorbers from Kayaba. AGX is a fully adjustable gas charged
shock absorber for high performance cars and is available
as a twin tube shock absorber, strut or cartridge. Offering
up to eight different damping characteristics from soft to
firm, AGX has been designed to offer the adjustability of
a race-tuned shock combined with the simplicity needed for
day to day motoring.
The shock allows drivers to "dial-in" their
preferred performance setting to match their style of driving.
For normal running, the same setting should be made to both
shocks on the same axle, but for track test or circuit use,
the facility exists to adjust settings so that the near side
and offside perform differently. AGX is also particularly
suitable for enthusiasts wanting to tune or customise their
cars by lowering the ride height and can be used together
with Kayaba's new K-Force lowering kit.
The unique feature of the AGX shock absorber
is its ability to change a vehicle's ride characteristics
in seconds and without the need for tools, having to jack
up the car, remove any components or adjust the spring pre-compression.
Adjustments are made with either a knurled dial on the shock
body or with a small screw headlocated at the top of the piston
rod, depending on the model.
AGX shock absorbers also feature Kayabas's unique
multi-stage valving, which allows the shock's performance
to adapt to road conditions. Under smooth conditions, the
valving allows the shock to travel freely for maximum ride
comfort. However, when the wheels travel over rough conditions,
the valve responds instantly to make the shock firmer, maintaining
good tyre contact and vehicle control. This innovative valving
varies both the rebound and the compression strokes of the
shock absorber according to the speed of piston travel.
The AGX range is available for both European
and Japanese models including cars such as the Audi A3 and
A4, VW Golf and Opel (Vauxhall) Corsa, Astra, Vectra and Calibra,
the Mazda MX5, Nissan 200 SX, Subaru Impreza, Toyota Celica
and MR2 and is an additional product line to Kayaba's already
comprehensive shock absorber range.
Nokian Roodsnoop Radio Warning
System for Loss of Tyre Pressure
Simple,
effective and economical, the Roodsnoop Pressure Watch from
the Finnish tyre manufacturer, Nokian Tyres is claimed to
make driving safer. The system triggers an alarm via a radio
signal when it detects tyre pressure loss.
The driver is then warned by a flashing light
and a bleep emitted from a small receiver which is fixed to
the sun visor. RoodSnoop uses four lightweight sensors which
are mounted invisible onto the wheels and inside the tyres
with steel tape, one sensor per wheel. This pressure detector
can be used in any car and the vehicle requires no internal
modifications. The RoadSnoop Pressure Watch from Nokian costs
around £155 inclusive of fitting and is available from tyre
dealers.
