Continental launches the ContiComfortKit
Continental
Tyres, has launched the ContiComfortKit that can temporarily
fix a flat tyre in minutes without the need for the motorist
to change the wheel.
Unlike most aerosol sealants, the ContiComfortKit incorporates
a small compressor that plugs into the cigarette lighter or
other 12 volt outlet. This pumps a mixture of liquid sealant
and air into the tyre, effectively sealing the puncture from
the inside and re-inflating the tyre. The whole process takes
under 7 minutes and the motorist can then continue his journey,
driving for up to 125 miles at a maximum speed of 50mph, to
have the tyre repaired or replaced at the outlet of their
choice.
Continental brand manager Tracey Hyem, said: "Although punctures
don't happen very often, when they do occur they can cause
considerable inconvenience to the motorist. It's a dirty job
and potentially a dangerous one. The ContiComfortKit is a
simple, quick and clean way to make a temporary repair to
a tyre.
The ContiComfortKit is a post puncture sealant to be used
to 'get the driver home'. The sealant employed in the ContiComfortKit
may be removed to enable a repair if appropriate and safe
to do so. The ContiComfortKit retails for around £59.99. Once
the ContiComfortKit has been used, replacement sealant and
tubing can be bought for just £14.99.
Pneu-Logic with Wireless and Paperless
Data Recording
The
first completely wireless and paperless tyre data recording
system has arrived. Pneu-Inspector has been developed by Pneu-Logic,
who have gone into partnership with Goodyear Dunlop to market
and promote the system.
Pneu-Inspector is a hand held, easy-to-use, tyre tread depth
combined pressure gauge which collects accurate tyre data
and uses Bluetooth technology to communicate with the hand-held
mobile computer. The result is real-time information, allowing
fleet managers to view data about their tyres within seconds
of them being inspected. Until now, inspectors would use a
digital pressure gauge, a tread depth gauge and digital calliper
to compile tyre data that would be recorded on paper forms.
Every aspect of Pneu-Inspector is electronic, so inspection
time is halved. Error-free data is immediately available via
Bluetooth technology on the hand-held PDA and can be sent
direct to a fleet manager's computer, printer or other management
system. The Pneu-Inspector is simple to integrate into existing
business and software systems and can be used worldwide. Pneu-Logic
believes that Pneu-Inspector will give fleet managers improved
business efficiency and an extra-competitive edge that comes
from having information instantly.
