Maxxis Launches New All-Season UHP Radial

Maxxis is continuing to boost its credentials in the high performance sector by adding the MA-Z4S Victra to its line up. With a low aspect ratio, V-shaped aggressive tread design and specially formulated silica tread compound, this new unidirectional ultra-high performance radial is designed to take grip, fuel economy and handling - on both wet and dry roads - to a new level.

The tyre features a solid centre rib for high-speed stability, while the four high-void, circumferential main grooves expel water for enhanced wet traction. Meanwhile, multiple grooves and the optimal siping design ensure excellent traction in snowy conditions.

Available in sizes from 195/50 R15 to 255/35 ZR20, the new Maxxis MA-Z4S Victra has a reinforced casing and robust body ply structure for improved handling and stability, while a hard bead filler compound aids cornering. The five-pitch tread blocks and groove design minimise noise for a quiet, comfortable ride.

Latest Brembo Range Arrives in the UK

Power and Performance Products (Triple P) has introduced the latest brake two- piece brake disc set from renowned Italian specialists Brembo, to the UK. Triple P is the exclusive importer for Brembo High Performance products in the UK, and the new Turismo range is aimed at some of the market's best-performing road cars.

Turismo is suitable for the Audi R8, BMW M5 and M6 (E63), Lamborghini Gallardo, Mini Cooper and Cooper S, Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution, Nissan 350Z, Porsche 996/997 - C2S/C4S, and the Subaru Impreza WRX STi. The Turismo range features a two-piece floating disc set.

The discs are manufactured from high-carbon cast iron, and are fully compatible with the vehicle's original calipers. In addition, the Turismo discs fit under the vehicle's factory wheels and are available in drilled or slotted options.

Turismo brake discs are also a strong application solution for track day vehicles where reducing the unsprung mass of the front braking system improves performance and head dissipation. The Brembo name is well known for its sporting heritage, supplying the bulk of the current Formula One grid, including current champion Ferrari.

Self Inflating Tyre Launched

SIT - the Self Inflating Tyre system is a new invention of CODA DEVELOPMENT s.r.o., a company based in Prague, Czech Republic. The patented SIT solution offers a major advance in solving tyre pressure concerns.

In the USA, 27% of passenger cars and 32% of light trucks and SUVs have at least one tyre under-pressured by more than 25%. Under-inflated tyres negatively impact safety, fuel economy and tyre longevity. It is estimated that maintaining proper tyre pressure would save the U.S. upwards of 1.24 billion gallons of fuel annually by improving fuel mileage. In turn, this would eliminate about 250 lbs. of carbon dioxide emissions per vehicle every year.

The SIT System delivers key benefits. Besides benefiting drivers through elimination of unpopular pressure checks and dirty-handed inflating of tyres, it helps to address the serious drawbacks of incorrect tyre pressure. These include higher fuel consumption, shorter tyre life, and accidents caused by under inflated tyres. Plus it's a simple, inexpensive solution designed to be manufacturer friendly. Production costs for incorporating this component will increase only marginally compared to regular tyres, while the surplus benefits the technology provides are significant.

SIT is an integral tyre feature that uses atmospheric air to inflate the tyre automatically when a vehicle is put in motion, compensating for natural loss of pressure and ensuring maintenance-free, constant tyre pressure over the lifetime of the tyre. The SIT System is based on proven, highly reliable peristaltic pump principles. It integrates a tube chamber into the tyre wall.

As the tyre turns against the road this chamber acts as a peristaltic pump, forcing more air into the tyre until it reaches its desired pressure. Then a managing valve automatically stops further inflation.

This simple solution ensures that all tyres operate at optimal pressure at all times. Driving less than 1 mile compensates for typical leakage of 1 to 3% per month. In comparison, currently available inflation systems use externally stored containers of compressed air or external compressors, resulting in higher costs, weight and more elaborate assembly. Plus, the containers ultimately have limited capacity and are not maintenance-free.

SIT is a tyre-integrated, self-operating component that uses atmospheric air to compensate for lost pressure as needed. SIT provides the most effective and inexpensive tyre pressure control, while also being the most convenient solution for the end user - the driver.

As a result of this development, people can drive their vehicles with complete peace of mind. CODA DEVELOPMENT s.r.o. plans to develop the SIT System further into a proven production model in joint cooperation with established partners from the automotive and tyre industries. In the coming months CODA DEVELOPMENT s.r.o. will initiate talks with potential partners in order to identify those best suited for introducing this new technology to the market.
