New Supermaxx Sport Boosts Motorcycle Line-up

For years motorcyclists have come to rely on Maxxis for street and off-road tyres that deliver a winning performance/value for money combination. Now, Maxxis has boosted its motorcycle range with the introduction of the Supermaxx Sport, a new high performance sports radial designed especially for the performance road and track day market.

The Supermaxx Sport - which had its European launch at the Motorcycle Trade Expo 2008 (NEC, January 20-22) - features an advanced tread pattern and distinct angular profile for quick, precise and responsive handling. The ultra sticky silica compound has been formulated to ensure optimum traction in dry and wet conditions, allowing for cooler running temperatures and maximum grip during road or track use. Developed using Virtual Intelligent Prototyping and Finite Element Analysis (FEA), which ensures an even load distribution between cornering and straight line performance, Supermaxx Sport prototypes were tested extensively in Europe to ensure top rated performance whatever the conditions.

The tyre's revolutionary radial carcass uses mono spiral-wound Kevlar belts to maintain uniformity at high speeds, while its innovative tread design provides outstanding handling and cornering capabilities. This exciting arrival follows hot on the heels of the third generation Supermaxx, a ZR rated sports/touring radial tyre acknowledged for delivering superior cornering and straight line performance. Major carcass improvements and the new road-formulated compound give optimum mileage and grip, while the distinctive profile and tread pattern ensure responsive handling and stability.

The Supermaxx is stocked in sizes from 110/70ZR17 to 200/50ZR17, including the popular 120/70ZR17 and 180/55ZR17.

BFGoodrich Launch Activan Tyre Range

BFGoodrich has launched its new Activan range of van tyres that have been specifically designed to cope with the arduous operating conditions faced by tyres fitted to these vehicles. Based on BFGoodrich motorsport technology developed in the harsh environment of the World Rally Championship, the Activan tyres offer excellent levels of wet and dry grip, and high levels of damage resistance.

The tread area of the tyre is made up of large tread blocks for maximum grip in dry conditions. There are also a high number of sipes in the tread pattern that cut through surface water on wet roads, to offer grip and safety when the weather takes on that typically British look that we all know so well.

The Activan's motorsport-derived tread compound offers high levels of durability and wear resistance, ensuring operators get maximum value for money thanks to increased tyre life. To allow drivers to fully exploit this long tread life the tyre also has reinforced sidewalls which feature two casing plies for increased resistance to kerbing damage.

The BFGoodrich Activan range is available in 14 sizes from 175/65 R 14 to 225/65 R 16, which covers more than 70% of the UK and Irish van markets.
