Run-flat Technology for Bridgestone's
Flagship SUV Tyre
Bridgestone
has launched its first 4x4 tyre for luxury SUVs harnessing
conventional run-flat tyre technology. The Dueler H/P Sport
RFT delivers the same optimum performance and comfort as the
non-run-flat variant of the tyre, which has earned glowing
praise from car manufacturers and motorists alike since its
launch in March 2006. The cutting-edge rubber features reinforced
sidewalls that allow vehicles to be driven safely after suffering
a loss of pressure, the same technology used in conventional
run-flat tyres like Bridgestone's award-winning Turanza ER300
RFT and Potenza RE050 RFT.
Like the Potenza and Turanza tyres, the Dueler H/P Sport
combines the pattern advantages of Formula One tyres to give
motorists stunning levels of grip on both wet and dry road
surfaces. The tread design is specifically tailored for high-powered
SUV vehicles, with block stiffness increased on the outside
shoulder and tie-bar centre ribs for enhanced handling and
refinement.
"We launched the Dueler H/P Sport to give drivers of luxury
4x4 vehicles a tyre that offers the same characteristics as
the rubber on high-performance coupés and saloons - excellent
all-weather handling, sharp steering precision and maximum
refinement and comfort," said Andy Lane, marketing manager
of Bridgestone UK.
"The Dueler H/P Sport RFT takes that a step further, offering
improved safety and peace of mind as a result of the reinforced
side walls. It is arguably our most technology-advanced run-flat
tyre to date given the larger size of SUV rims, and is a direct
response to the growing popularity of run-flat tyre technology
in both the original equipment and replacement markets."
The Dueler H/P Sport RFT has initially been developed as
an original equipment option in a range of sizes from 255/50
to 285/45 for 19-inch rims. The first vehicles to be shod
with the new tyre will hit UK roads in the spring.
